The 35th Annual Dow Tennis Classic Weeklong Tournament and Community Events Begin this Saturday, October 28.

MIDLAND, Mich. (October. 26, 2023)

The much-awaited professional international tennis tournament is finally here. Kicking off the start of the Dow Tennis Classic is a FREE community event, Kids Play Day. Thanks to friends at USTA Midwest, children can get on court with GMTC instructors for an energized and epic tennis experience right before the start of the 2023 Dow Tennis Classic. Children from kindergarten through high school seniors are invited and will be grouped by age and/or skill level.

Other events taking place include professionals visiting schools, and area youth taking field trips to the Greater Midland Tennis Center to watch matches. Special events for adults feature a Pro Am, and a Watch & Play Ticket Package, that includes clinics and weekend match all-inclusive tickets. During the feature matches, STEM and Family Zones are available to families and youth to play and learn some of the science of tennis.

Players have already started to arrive in Midland. The player entry list is quite impressive, with seven Top-100 players, and four in the Top-50. Recently added as a Wild Card, 2022 Dow Tennis Classic Doubles Champion, Alycia Parks. Since winning the Dow Tennis Classic Doubles Title, she has reached career highs in both Singles and Doubles and entered into the Top-100 for the first time. Parks has also been an excellent community partner in the past, visiting area schools and engaging with youth through the game she loves. The Classic is happy to see her and her 2022 Co-Champion and 2021 Doubles Champion, Asia Muhammad return to Midland.

Notable Americans attending the 2023 tournament include University of Michigan’s Emina Bektas (104), who could break into the Top-100 for the first time after the Dow Tennis Classic like Caty McNally did in 2022. Other top-ranked Americans include Emma Navarro (42), Caroline Dolehide (43), Peyton Stearns (48), Taylor Townsend (66), Ashlyn Krueger (80) Kayla Day (94), Katie Volynets (108), Hailey Baptiste (136), Elizabeth Mandlik (138), Sachia Vickery (148) and Ann Li (159). Other countries represented in the Classic include Cypress, Columbia, Canada, Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Mexico, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Australia.
