MIDLAND, Mich. (Sep. 22, 2022)

Dow Tennis Classic is excited to announce that Shuai Zhang, the top-ranked Chinese player, has committed to joining us in Midland for the 34th annual Dow Tennis Classic.

Currently ranked #28 in the world, Shaui has won multiple WTA Tour titles, reached the quarterfinals of both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and won multiple grand slam doubles titles as well.

Zhang’s appearance represents one of the highest-ranked players ever to play the Dow Tennis Classic, which is one of the longest-running professional women’s events in the United States. Her entry leads what is expected to be a very strong field for the upcoming WTA 125 event, with multiple players in the WTA top 100 signed up to earn points in one of the final WTA Tour events of the year. Throughout its history, the Dow Tennis Classic has hosted multiple future grand slam champions and WTA Tour title-winners, including Anna Kournikova, Jessica Pegula, Ons Jabeur, Sofia Kenin, Jennifer Brady and more.
